Popular role-playing video games Pokemon X and Y – released on October 12, 2013 – represent Japanese multinational consumer electronics company Nintendo’s best-selling first-party games in nine months ending on December 31, 2013. The company’s list of worldwide software sales for the first three quarters – April until December – of Nintendo’s fiscal year 2014 showed that Pokemon X and Y reached a combined sales of 11.61 million units.
The popular game also managed to significantly outpace the second best-selling game, Animal Crossing: New Leaf – which sold 3.52 million units – while the third spot was claimed by Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, with 2.57 million units sold during the same period of nine months.
In addition to that, just one Wii game appeared on the list – Mario Kart Wii – which still did well and sold 1 million copies during those nine months, bringing the overall lifetime sales up to 35.26 million copies.
