French global video game developer and publisher Ubisoft is getting ready to release its highly-anticipated game ‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ and fortunately, will not make the same mistakes they made with ‘Assassin’s Creed III’. ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ endured many criticisms for a boring campaign, countless bugs and a disappointing ending, but most importantly, players did not appreciate the complete uselessness of the side missions in the long run. Creative director Jean Guesdon promises this will not be the case with ‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’.

Guesdon explained that the upcoming game features a huge Caribbean open-world that is packed with side-missions and activities. Players will have so many things to do, from raiding forts and escorting ally ships to discovering shipwrecks and hunting animals. Guesdon said, “The key thing here is that all of these activities make sense in the context of the open-world—you will never feel like any of these activities are superfluous, they are all present for a reason, and they are all fun to complete. You are completing these activities to become a stronger pirate and a better assassin.”

He also went on to reveal that the combat in the new game plays very similarly to combat in ‘Assassin’s Creed III’. The multi-pistols mechanic will allow players to shoot any enemy during the combo and in turn, give them a completely new dimension to how they approach a combat situation.

‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ is set to be released on October 29, 2013 in the US for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC, with releases for Xbox One and PS4 also on the way.
