The latest edition of the hit franchisee, Tomb Raider, will not be out on PC and PlayStation platforms.

There is bad news in store for PC and PlayStation gamers who are Tomb Raider fans, as the Rise of the Tomb Raider will come out only for Xbox One. This announcement was made by Microsoft during its press briefing at the 2014 Gamescom that took place in Germany. The game will be out in 2015 during the holiday season and as was the case with its predecessor, this edition of Tomb Raider is being developed by Crystal Dynamics.

This announcement has taken the online world by storm with reactions of angry gamers pouring in on social networking sites. “so SE sold out to @Microsoft and now Rise of the Tomb Raider is an #xbox exclusive. disappointed” an angry fan posted on Twitter.

While it is still not clear whether it is a timed exclusive, there is still a possibility of the game coming out on PS4/PC a little later on.

Speculations about Microsoft offering a large sum of money to Tomb Raider’s developer, Crystal Dynamics, in a bid to boost its lethargic sales, are doing the rounds of gaming circles.

The original Tomb Raider was released in 1996 for PC, PlayStation and Sega Saturn. Over the years the franchisee has built a loyal fan base, so evidently this announcement has disappointed the gaming community.
