Wii sales were on a decline in the year 2010, as the video game console experienced sales of about seven million units, compared to that of 9.5 million in 2009 and ten million units in the year 2008. Nintendo did not provide the exact US sales figures, but said that it is more than seven million units.
The sale of video game console Wii has crossed 34 million units, whereas the sales of DS is more than 47 million.
After a huge success of Wii, th competitors in the market like PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 have launched new motion control solutions in the last year. They were targeting the same market consumers and hoped to crawl above Wii.
Wii was launched in the year 2006, and the DS was launched even before that, in 2004 in the U.S.
According to the sources, Nintendo is planning to launch the 3DS in March 2011. According to the company, DS is “the nation’s best-selling video game system of all time.”
Reggie Fils-Aime, the President of Nintendo America said that the company will soon be launching a new portable technology and also some more Wii games that would look more real than fake.
